Alisha A. Wood received her bachelor’s degree in biology, pre-med, with a minor in legal studies from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 2005. Wood relocated with her daughter to Southern California in 2007 to attend law school at Whittier Law School in Orange County where she received her J.D. in 2010. Wood was an Intellectual Property Fellow in law school and attended on a scholarship.
She also served as the alumni liaison for the Student Body Association, and an executive board member of both the Moot Court Honors Board and the Trial Advocacy Honors Board. Wood participated in numerous competitions for both organizations. As a competitor with Moot Court, she was selected to represent Whittier Law School at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration competition in Vienna, Austria.
During law school, Wood worked as a Certified Legal Intern with the Orange County District Attorney’s office. She also worked as a paid legal intern with the Orange County Legal Aid Society. These experiences allowed Wood to work on both sides of the justice system. Wood’s passion for fair and just advocacy developed through these positions. Upon graduation, she decided that she wanted to pursue a career in criminal defense work. Wood took and passed the 2010 California Bar Exam.
In 2011, Wood accepted a position as one of only three associate attorneys with the Law Offices of G. Cole Casey, an exclusive DUI defense firm and one of the largest criminal defense firms in San Diego. She has been invited to participate in a variety of speaking engagements and volunteers her time to coach students in the San Diego Mock Trial Competition Program. In 2013, Wood was promoted to managing attorney at the Law Offices of G. Cole Casey.
At the National College of DUI Defense Conference, held at Harvard University in July 2013, Wood was selected to represent the state of California as the only California delegate in the college. She is a member of the National College of DUI Defense, The California DUI Lawyers Association, the San Diego Criminal Bar Association, the San Diego Bar Association and Lawyers Club of San Diego. Wood is licensed to practice in all the California state courts and the United States District Court, Southern District.
