Ankur Garg is a patent counsel associate at Qualcomm. He is responsible for helping to manage Qualcomm’s internal patent portfolio by utilizing his legal and engineering experience. He works closely and collaborates with engineers, attorneys, and executives regarding Qualcomm’s overall patent portfolio.
For example, Garg helps to review documents and issues that arise that require an understanding of Qualcomm’s internal patent portfolio as a whole. Garg has also helped in the development of processes used to maximize the efficiency of Qualcomm's IP strategy, including filing and review processes. In addition, Garg recommends patent filing decisions for a portion of Qualcomm's portfolio and manages prosecution of these patent applications.
Prior to working at Qualcomm, Garg worked for a large IP-focused law firm and specialized in client counseling and patent prosecution, including preparing office action responses, application drafting, due diligence and opinion letters. Garg's clients came from a wide range of technology areas, including wireless communications, Web technologies, display devices and medical devices.
Garg received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2008. He received a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and a minor in economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, graduating summa cum laude. He was a James B. Angell Scholar and recipient of the William J. Branstrom Freshman Technical Writing Prize, the Regents Merit Scholarship, the Donald and Lucille Malloure Scholarship, and the Distinguished Achievement in Engineering Award.
