Travis Stewart is corporate counsel at Provide Commerce Inc., one of the nation’s leading e-commerce companies. Provide Commerce’s major brands include ProFlowers, Shari’s Berries, RedEnvelope, Personal Creations, Gifts.com and Sincerely Inc., among others. During his tenure at Provide Commerce, Stewart has assisted the company with a wide variety of legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial contract review and negotiation, litigation management, privacy and data security, marketing guidance and intellectual property matters.
With a background in Internet technologies and knowledge of several programing languages, Stewart is the primary legal resource for Provide Commerce’s IT group. In this role, he assists the technology teams at Provide Commerce with a diverse range of matters, including compliance with privacy laws, data security, negotiating licenses, compliance with social media terms (including advising on architecture to enhance ease of compliance) and addressing the changing legal landscape with the migration toward mobile technology.
Key M&A targets Stewart helped acquire and integrate include RedEnvelope, Personal Creations, BrowniePops, and most recently, Sincerely Inc. Acquiring RedEnvelope out of bankruptcy required intensive negotiations by Stewart with creditors and business partners to maintain ongoing business operations, and Stewart was the lead diligence and integration resource for the Personal Creations acquisition. Provide Commerce’s most recent acquisition provided Stewart with another opportunity to apply his passion for technology in assisting with the ongoing legal needs of Sincerely Inc., the mobile gifting company behind such apps as Postagram, Ink and Sesame.
Stewart received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law and his bachelor’s in business administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurship from the University of Southern California. Stewart also received a certificate in interactive multimedia from the School of Engineering at the University of Southern California.
