Michael Healy, a San Diego native, studied philosophy and journalism at Gonzaga University in Washington state before returning to his San Diego roots to earn his J.D. at California Western School of Law. He is a litigation associate with Fredrickson, Mazeika & Grant LLP, an AV-rated firm where he focuses on business litigation and insurance defense cases involving products liability, professional liability, personal injury, and construction defect.
Prior to working with FMG, Healy was a litigation associate for The McMillan Law Firm APC, where he contributed to multiple appeals and participated in two long cause jury trials, obtaining successful defense verdicts in both. He also assisted in defending an appeal, Chaker v. Mateo (2012) 209 Cal.App.4th 1138, in which the appellate court affirmed the trial court’s grant of his client's Anti-SLAPP motion involving the use of hyperbolic Internet speech and its relation to defamation claims. Also, in 2012, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy awarded Healy the designation of Advocate after his completion of extensive practical training in trial work, deposition examination and persuasive argument.
While attending California Western, Healy contributed to several amicus briefs filed on behalf of nonprofit organizations, focusing on the defense of civil rights and religious freedom, including briefs filed with the United States Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the State of Montana. In 2010, he received the Academic Achievement award in Bioethics at California Western. In 2008, he joined the class of Blackstone Legal Fellows through the Alliance Defending Freedom and is an allied attorney with ADF.
Healy is an active member of the Immaculata Parish on the University of San Diego campus and is a speaker for the Goretti Group, a program with the Office for Marriage and Family Life in the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego. He is also an associate member of the Hon. J. Clifford Wallace American Inn of Court, and is involved in activities with the local bar association.
