Attorney Matthew Odgers is the owner and founder of the Law Offices of Matthew W. Odgers in Carmel Valley. His practice is focused on health professionals in the dental and medical fields with cases involving practice transitions, employment contracts, office leases, practice compliance, dispute resolution and estate planning.
Prior to starting his own practice, Odgers spent six months in the Netherlands where he worked as a legal assistant on the standby defense team for the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, representing Radovan Karadzic, the former president of Republik Srpska. He also worked as a research assistant for professor Susan Tiefenbrun in converting her book “Tax Free Trade Zones of the World and in the United States” into a law review article. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
After graduating from Purdue University in three years with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a minor in forensic science, Odgers spent a year in Seoul, Korea, teaching English to Korean children. He studied international law in Hangzhou, China, and attended the Rule of Law in China conference the summer of 2012.
Fifteen percent of Odgers’ solo practice is dedicated to pro bono work including working with a Nigerian citizen on his asylum application. Part of his practice is also devoted to helping young families with estate planning.
Odgers is a member of the California Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, Trusts and Estate Section of the California Bar Association, Business Law Section of the California Bar Association, Wealth Counsel and Business Networking International: Wealth in Networking chapter.
