Patrick Raue is an associate at the downtown San Diego Office of Wood, Smith, Henning & Berman LLP, where he practices in the area of general liability, toxic tort, construction law and professional liability.
Prior to Wood, Smith, Henning & Berman LLP, Raue was an associate for Fredrickson, Mazeika & Grant in Sorrento Valley. While at FMG, Raue managed an active caseload of 15 to 20 cases, including cases involving products liability, personal injury, construction defect and business litigation. As a first-year associate, Raue took and defended more than 20 depositions, made dozens of court appearances, and successfully resolved dozens of cases through mediation and settlement negotiations. Raue also provided research and motion writing support on niche areas of law, such as water law, fishery management, equestrian law and various other unique topics.
While attending the University of San Diego School of Law, Raue was a member of the national mock trial team and competed in the San Diego Defense Lawyers tournament, ABA Labor Section tournament in Los Angeles and the AAJ Tournament in Santa Monica. Raue’s prowess in oral advocacy was also demonstrated by honors marks in the courses of negotiation and trial advocacy, and his receipt of the Best Oral Advocate Award in lawyering skills. Outside the classroom, Raue was a judicial extern for the Hon. David Bartick, magistrate judge for the Southern District of California, and interned with the city attorney’s office for Chula Vista. He also spent two years as a law student clerk and post bar clerk with Fredrickson, Mazeika & Grant prior to being an associate.
A native of South Bay, Raue briefly left San Diego to attend the University of California Santa Barbara, where he received a B.A. in law and society. During his junior year, he studied abroad at the University of Leiden Law School in the Netherlands along with attorneys from around the globe. After he completed his undergraduate studies, he taught English in the Krabi province of Thailand.
Raue is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, including being an active member of the New Lawyers Division. He participates in SDCBA softball leagues and is a cycling and mountain biking enthusiast. Raue is also a lifelong supporter of the San Diego Padres and Chargers.
