McMillin Buys Otay Land For Vista Pacifica

The Corky McMillin Cos. announced it has acquired a 204-acre parcel of land in Otay Mesa formerly known as Robinhood Ridge. The land was purchased from Greystone Homes/Lennar Communities and includes 485 single-family home lots, a 7.4-acre multi-family site and a 6.9-acre park site.

The community will be called Vista Pacifica by McMillin with the first homes scheduled for sale in the spring of 2001.

The land is east of Interstate 805, off Otay Valley Road south of the Chula Vista city line. McMillin Land Development will oversee the development of the new community and McMillin Homes will build the first two neighborhoods and is planning a third, along with a multi-family development.

Construction has begun on the $2 million entryway and gatehouse at Cielo, the 1,750-acre community in Rancho Santa Fe. The project is on Calle Ambiente, just off Del Dios Highway, according to David Dacus, vice president of marketing and sales for Rancho Cielo Estates Ltd., the master planner and developer.

The gatehouse is scheduled to open later this year. It was designed by The Dahlin Group and Burton Associates, both of San Diego.

Cielo will build out at 528 custom estate sites from 1.3 to 2.5 acres and residences. Estate sites are currently priced from $600,000 to more than $1 million.

Custom and semi-custom residences are also currently under construction. Davidson Communities is building 81 homes and has sold out its debut release of 14. Floor plans range from 3,700 to 6,200 square feet and prices from the low $1 million range.

Innovative Resort Communities has construction under way on the first seven of a planned 23 residences on one- and two-acre lots. The homes range from 6,100 to 7,000 square feet and are expected to be priced from $2 million. An opening is planned in November.

EPAC Estates is building 16 homes from 6,800 to 7,550 square feet with five to six bedrooms. Prices are anticipated to begin at $2 million and the first showcase home is expected to be available this winter.

The Street of Dreams tour of six luxury homes kicked off its five-week run with a grand-opening weekend drawing 3,255 visitors. During the first two weeks, an estimated 17,000 visitors toured the homes at The Heritage Golf Estates in north Poway. Two weeks remain until the last day on November 5.

At the same time, the American Society of Interior Designers' 2000 Designer Showcase is using one of the Street of Dreams homes for its parallel event.

The Techbilt Cos. has eight homes remaining at its Bernardo Santa Fe community and has released four decorated models for sale. The models are priced from $495,000 to $595,000. The remaining homes range from 2,568 to 3,340 square feet with three and four bedrooms. Prices range from $400,000 to $535,000.

Barratt American reports 26 homes have been sold in the first week of release at its Seabreeze Farms neighborhood at Triple Crown in Carmel Valley. Forty-six homes are planned.

Seventeen homes were sold the first weekend they were available at the beginning of October and nine more homes were sold in the first week. Prices begin at less than $700,000.

The newly released second phase ranges from $674,990 to $788,990. The trio of model homes is also available for sale from $985,990 to $1,084,900. Three floor plans range from 3,684 to 4,307 square feet with four to six bedrooms.
