Museum's Tower After Hours explores China

Museum of Man continues its Tower After Hours series this month with "Chinese Celebration," a spotlight on Chinese culture and traditions.

Tower After Hours, which has been held the last Thursday of the months February-July this year from 6 to 8 p.m. and now picks up in October, showcases various countries through music and dance performances, presentations, exhibits and cuisine.

This month's event will feature Wu Shu Kung Fu and Tai Chi demonstrated by the Jing Institute of Chinese Martial Arts and Culture, Chinese zither music performed by Lui GuoJing Evans, and traditional dances by the Moonlight Dance Troupe and the Chinese Folk Dance Theater.

Previous Tower After Hours have profiled Ghana, Brazil, the Pacific Islands, Peru, Mexico and the Philippines.

This event is sponsored by San Diego Gas & Electric, Sycuan Resort & Casino, the city of San Diego Commission for Arts & Culture and Asia: the Journal of Culture and Commerce. Further collaboration came from the San Diego Asian Film Festival, the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum, Asian Pacific Thematic Historic District and the Asian Business Association.
