Construction project and cost management firm Cumming Corp. announced Monday that it is making its San Diego location its corporate headquarters.
The announcement comes 15 years after Cumming first established itself with its first office in Orange County. The company has had a San Diego office since 1999, and it has grown into one of the firm's largest offices.
"San Diego is the right place for our business to develop and flourish," said Michael Jensen, the company’s president. Cumming has 18 locations across the United States with experience in the education, health care, hospitality and gaming markets.
Cumming Corp. is involved with several project across California including more than nine in San Diego County. Some of these involve projects with the Grossmont Union High School District, Chula Vista Elementary School District, San Diego Community College District, the Doubletree Hotel in Mission Valley, Lindbergh Field, UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest and Thornton Hospital in La Jolla, Sharp Grossmont Hospital and Scripps Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista.
The company has already moved into its new 8,500-square-foot office in the Carmel Corporate Plaza.
"We indentified key advantages in San Diego and recognized that large-scale growth was on the horizon," said Peter Heald, the company’s chief operating officer. "We are diversifying our team and expanding at a rapid pace."
