The following "Local Notes" appeared in The Daily Transcript's Sept. 17, 1924 issue:
The three-day celebration of the national independence of Mexico, held here by Mexican residents, came to an end last night with a grand ball at the civic auditorium.


The plans for the high school auditorium are nearing competition and its expected work on the structure will start at an early date.


A La Follette-Wheeler rally will take place next Saturday in Grape Day park at Escondido. C.C. Crouch, a prominent attorney of this city, will be the principal speaker.


While a number of Southern California cities have been affected by shortage of water, San Diego has on hand approximately 34,000,000,000 gallons and is consuming about 15,000,000 gallons daily. No shortage has been felt here.


The 18th annual fall flower show of the San Diego Floral Association will be held next Saturday at the civic auditorium in Balboa park.
