Teenage burn victims to share stories at fundraising dinner

Three adolescent girls who suffered severe burns will share their stories during a fundraising dinner at a private residence in the San Diego area on Oct. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m., according to a release.

Katie, Adriana and Larisa were involved in separate tragedies and recently participated in the Angel Faces program, a weeklong retreat that allows teenage girls to work closely with experts, meet other girls facing similar struggles and learn to use new tools that will help them become more confident.

Angel Faces is a national nonprofit organization, headquartered in Encinitas, whose mission is to provide healing retreats and ongoing support for adolescent girls with burn/trauma injuries to achieve their optimum potential and develop meaningful relationships for themselves, their families and their communities. In addition to art therapy and private, corrective-cosmetic sessions, the program provides licensed therapists to help the girls with strategies to handle staring and teasing.
