LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Prosecutors have declined to file charges against a Los Angeles County sheriff's captain who has been placed on leave during a probe of her possible connection to a suspected drug trafficker.
The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday (http://lat.ms/R3wmsf) that prosecutors won't file charges against Cpt. Bernice Abram because there isn't any evidence that she was aware of any illegal activities by Dion Grim. However, an FBI investigation is ongoing.
Grim has pleaded not guilty to federal drug trafficking charges.
The newspaper said Abram came under suspicion because she was allegedly funneling secret information to Grim, whose father she had been dating. The Times said Abram is heard on a recorded phone call tipping Grim off to a phony surveillance plan.
Abram has told the newspaper that she didn't know Grim.
