Nearly ton of pot seized at San Diego County beach

DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) -- Border Patrol agents have seized nearly a ton of marijuana and arrested two men at a San Diego County beach.

U-T San Diego (http://bit.ly/Un3kmC ) says agents spotted the men sitting in their trucks at Dog Beach in Del Mar at around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

Border Patrol spokesman Steve Pitts says the men looked suspicious so the agents approached to talk to them and saw a several bales of marijuana sitting in one of the trucks.

Other bales were near the gate at the beach entrance and tucked under a pedestrian bridge.

Pitts says the men apparently had taken the drugs to the beach and were waiting for someone to pick them up.
