The following "Local Notes" appeared in The Daily Transcript's Dec. 10, 1909 issue:
The Knights of the Royal Arch yesterday subscribed $25,000 for stock of the Panama-California exposition. At noon today the total subscriptions had almost reached $375,000.

Residents of La Playa have petitioned the harbor commissioners for a franchise for a pleasure wharf at the foot of John street.

It is expected when the Four C's subscriptions are all in a good block of the stock of the Panama-California exposition will be subscribed for.

Owing to legal impediments, the supervisors yesterday declined to make any appropriation, as petitioned for by the local branch of the Associated Charities.

Major Frank Mahan, who ran the San Diego Herald in 1853, is spending a few days in the city.

The Riverside Chamber of Commerce yesterday passed strong resolutions endorsing the Panama-California exposition.

The new six-day schedule on the American-Hawaiian line of streamers will go into effect after New Years.
