Farrah Douglas joined the staff of the Tri-City Hospital Foundation on Dec. 12 as the executive director of major gifts and development. The foundation provides philanthropic and community support for Tri-City Medical Center, a 397-bed hospital that serves Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista.

Douglas is a current member of the Carlsbad City Council and has served on the city's Planning Commission. She's been a member of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce since 1993, serving on its board of directors and executive board.

Her involvement in the community includes serving on the boards of the California State University, San Marcos Advisory Council, the Boys and Girls Club of Carlsbad, the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation, Casa de Amparo, and the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club.

She has received numerous awards, among them the Outstanding Service to Community award from Sen. Mark Wyland, the Women Who Mean Business award from the San Diego Business Journal, and the Community Leadership Award from Congressman Darrell Issa.

Douglas has owned and operated CDS Printing, a small business in Carlsbad, for more than 20 years. She
earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from San Diego State University.

"Farrah will add both energy and performance to the Foundation that will serve the foundation and the hospital for years to come," said Larry Anderson, CEO of Tri-City Medical Center.

Douglas said she was excited about the opportunity to continue serving her community. In her new role, she will serve as the nexus between the foundation and the community and develop ways to strengthen the bond between the two.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me to contribute to our community, work with the foundation board and staff and make sure the foundation is very successful," Douglas said. "My family and I have been patients at Tri-City Medical Center for over 26 years. This is really our family hospital and I will work with enthusiasm and vigor to make its foundation even more successful."

"Our board welcomes Farrah to the foundation staff," said Kevin Stotmeister, chairman of the Tri-City Hospital Foundation. "We're optimistic that her past community involvement and connections will serve the Foundation and the Hospital very well in our mutual objectives of developing and increasing donor
financial support."
