Bill Garrett, the five-term president of the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District governing board, has been unanimously selected to serve another year in the position.
First selected for the board presidency in 2008, Garrett was sworn in for a 10th year as a member of the governing board on Dec. 11, after running unopposed in the November election. Trustee Mary Kay Rosinski, who also ran unopposed in November, was also sworn in. Edwin Hiel and Debbie Justeson were selected by the governing board as Garrett’s fellow board officers for 2013.
Home to about 28,000 students, the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District encompasses the campuses of both Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges.
Garrett, the former El Cajon city manager, accepted the selection with praise for the board’s work in recent years, noting its successful push recently for Proposition V, the district’s new $398 million facilities bond measure.
Hiel will serve as board vice president and Justeson as board clerk. Both were first elected to the board in 2010.
