The following "Local Notes" appeared in The Daily Transcript's Dec. 20, 1926 issue:
The police yesterday after considerable trouble and a long chase succeeded in lodging in the city jail Howar Gunning, who is charged with a number of burglaries.


The Christmas committee of the American Legion auxiliary will hold a meeting Thursday morning to pack Christmas baskets which are to be delivered to families on Friday.


There will be two Christmas trees at the entrance to the naval training stations and all the barracks will be decorated, prizes being awarded on Christmas morning to the three best decorated barracks.


The checks transaction in this city last week show a gain of 41.4 per cent over the transactions at the same period in 1924, according to the Eberle Riggleman Economic Service, of Los Angeles.


The annual Children Christmas tree party given by the local lodge of the American Order of the Sons of St. George, will be held on Wednesday evening, December 22.
