The following "Local Notes" appeared in The Daily Transcript's Dec. 28, 1998 issue:
San Diego will be home to 59 conventions and meetings in January, according to recent figures from the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau. The meetings are expected to draw about 52,000 delegates who will stay 76,000 room nights and spend nearly $38 million.

Ligand Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced Thursday that an amended complaint has been filed by certain shareholders of Seragen Inc. in the lawsuit against Seragen, its former directors, officers and certain investors in the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware.

A Superior Court judge has ruled that the county can continue plans to reorganize the department that maintains all county vehicles. Service Employees International Union Local 2028 had sought an injunction to stop the plan, but Judge Charles Hayes ruled against the union's bid.
