IRVINE, Calif. (AP) -- Officials in Orange County an inmate has been captured a week after he escaped from a medium-security jail.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Krause tells City News Service that after getting a tip and conducting surveillance, deputies arrested 35-year-old Marvin Manzo as he walked on an Anaheim street.
Last Thursday night, Manzo was found to be missing during a routine inmate count at the James A. Musick jail, and an extensive search of the jail yielded no trace of him.
Manzo had a history of narcotics and theft arrests, but his record is non-violent and he was not considered a public threat.
He had been in jail since Nov. 2 on a probation violation and was due for release in April.
Krause says the escape could get him another year in jail.
