INDUSTRY, Calif. (AP) -- Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say they've arrested eight people in connection with the theft of $115,000 worth of trademarked plastic products in South El Monte and Lynwood.
Sgt. Nabeel Mitry says in a release that five of Wednesday night's arrests were members of the same family, and all of the suspects have been charged with receiving known stolen property.
Investigators tracking plastics theft say Broadway Plastics in South El Monte was operating as an illicit stolen trademarked plastics grinding operation where stolen plastic was being primed for sale.
Investigators found stolen plastic products stowed at a Lynwood home.
Stolen plastic is typically used in items for transporting goods, such as pallets, trays, shelves and baskets.
Sheriff's officials have tracked down millions of dollars in stolen plastics in recent years.
