Qualcomm Labs, FanVision announce partnership

Qualcomm Labs Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM), signed a marketing and technical cooperation agreement with FanVision Entertainment LLC, a media, entertainment and technology company.

Under this multi-year agreement, Qualcomm Labs will promote FanVision's in-venue broadcast service in conjunction with Qualcomm Labs' LTE Broadcast middleware software, and FanVision will offer its service on, as well as exclusively license its patents in connection with, terminals utilizing Qualcomm Labs' LTE Broadcast middleware.

LTE Broadcast delivers high-bandwidth, live, premium and software content. The platform has the potential to significantly reduce mobile operators' costs by allowing them to optimize content and software distribution over LTE networks by using broadcast principles. Once the platform is implemented, mobile operators can dynamically increase network capacity during peak demand occasions, such as high-density live events like stadium sports, music concerts and other live events.

FanVision offers on-site fan experience enhancement and has the capability of broadcasting live audio, video and data content at sporting and other live events over multiple broadcast platforms.
