REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) -- Lawsuits filed by survivors of the deadly San Bruno gas pipeline explosion likely won't go to trial.
Eight people were killed and 38 homes were destroyed in the September 2010 gas line blast in the San Francisco Bay suburb.
Attorneys involved in the suits against Pacific Gas & Electric said during a Monday hearing that it will take about 90 days to settle remaining claims filed by more than 320 residents.
About 120 other plaintiffs have settled.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel (http://bit.ly/10674Nm) says a San Mateo County judge's ruling in October is apparently motivating PG&E to settle.
The judge denied the utility's bid to bar jurors from weighing whether the utility should pay potentially millions of dollars in punitive damages to the victims.
