HEMET, Calif. (AP) -- Riverside County sheriff's officials say a 16-year-old boy was stabbed by three or four other young men on a street in Hemet and later died from his wounds at a hospital.
A Tuesday sheriff's statement says the department is looking for three or four Hispanic juveniles in dark clothing who fled through a vacant field.
The statement says deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene late Monday afternoon to find Eric Ronald Sargeant Jr. of Hemet with multiple stab wounds.
He was stabilized and flown to a hospital where he was joined by his family. Sargeant died about five hours after the attack.
Riverside County homicide detectives are investigating. No arrests have been made.
