Dunkin' Donuts delivered some delicious news on Wednesday: It's expanding to Southern California.
The Canton, Mass.-based baked goods and coffee company, which has a cult-like following, is recruiting multiunit franchisees for San Diego, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura and Orange counties and expects to start opening in those markets in 2015.
The company is also interested in identifying qualified food service operators for a wide range of non-traditional venues, including colleges and universities, casinos, military bases, supermarkets, airports and travel centers.
Dunkin' Donuts also announced the opening of 291 net new locations in the United States in 2012, a net new unit growth rate of 4 percent.
In 2013, the company says it plans to open 330 to 360 net new restaurants in the United States with growth coming from both new and existing markets, representing an increase of 4.5 percent to 5 percent.

"We are delighted to begin 2013 with the long-awaited announcement that Dunkin' Donuts will be opening restaurants in California, where there is already incredible passion for our brand," said Nigel Travis, CEO, Dunkin' Brands and president, Dunkin' Donuts U.S.
The state's only Dunkin' Donuts opened last year behind a restricted gate on the Camp Pendleton base.
Expansion to California has always been part of its plan to grow Dunkin' Donuts' presence in the United States, Travis said.
In 2012, Dunkin' Donuts signed multistore agreements in 32 U.S. markets.
Additionally, in 2012 more than 600 Dunkin' Donuts restaurants were remodeled across the country.
In an effort to keep the brand fresh and competitive, Dunkin' Donuts offers franchisees flexible design concepts including free-standing stores, end caps, in-line sites, kiosks and gas stations, as well as other retail environments.
For limited time, the company plans to make special development incentives available, including reduced royalty fees in the early years and a $10,000 local store marketing contribution by the company for qualifying franchisees.
Dunkin' Donuts restaurants serve the most hot regular, decaf, flavored and iced coffee in America, selling 1.7 billion cups of hot and iced coffee every year, according to The NPD Group/CREST.
