ENCINITAS, Calif. (AP) -- Some parents have pulled their children from a San Diego County school because of concerns about radiation from cellphone antennas.
Officials for Julian Charter School tell U-T San Diego (http://bit.ly/V48xgI ) that 10 students have been pulled from its Innovation Centre Encinitas. The center has 125 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The school rents space at Encinitas Beach Chapel, which has 14 cellphone antennas on its property.
Pastor Larry Peltier says the towers have been there for 15 years and he's never had a complaint until recently.
Investigators have taken electromagnetic radiation readings at the site and say the levels are in the range considered safe by FCC.
