TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say officers shot a burglary suspect in the hand as he ran out the smashed front door of a jewelry store in Torrance.
Police Sgt. Chris Roosen says officers were dispatched after an alarm was triggered at Morgan's Jewelers on Hawthorne Boulevard early Sunday.
Roosen says officers opened fire when they saw a man exiting through the broken down door.
The suspect was hospitalized and was not immediately booked Sunday. His name was not released.
Roosen says detectives will determine whether the man was armed, and whether he was acting alone.
No officers were injured.
