FDA clears two Life Technologies products

Carlsbad-based Life Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: LIFE) has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for two more diagnostic testing and analysis products.

The FDA gave the company a green light for its 3500 Dx Genetic Analyzers and SeCore HLA typing kits, designed to help determine compatibility between donors and patients for organ and bone marrow transplantation.

The company now plans to submit its Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine for 510(k) clearance by the FDA, which is needed before marketing new medical devices.
