Tri-City names new VP of IT

Robert Velasco was named vice president of information technology at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside.

With more than 20 years of experience, he has led his own consulting organization and held other managerial roles in the health care, IT and consulting industries.

Most recently, Velasco worked as a senior manager in Dell Computers Global Healthcare Informatics Practice, providing program leadership and consulting services to St. Joseph Health System in Anaheim.

Velasco started his career as an IBM marketing representative and was assigned exclusively to support the Mayo Clinic hospitals.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Computer Science, from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The public hospital, a leader in robotics and minimally invasive technologies, has served the community for more than a half-century.

Tri-City Medical Center serves San Diego County's coastal communities of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista.
