San Diego city workers will be wearing Chargers gear and colors on Friday and the Central Library's dome will be glowing blue and gold in anticipation of Sunday's NFL playoff game pitting the Chargers against the Denver Broncos.
If the Chargers prevail against the Broncos, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock has agreed to send Interim Mayor Todd Gloria a sampling of his city's best green chili. If the Chargers lose, Gloria will send California burritos from Ortiz’s Taco Shop in Ocean Beach, carne asada fries from Lolita’s Taco Shop in Kearny Mesa and deep-fried catfish tacos from Mama Testa Taqueria in Hillcrest.
“Given my certainty that we won’t have to pay this bet, I urge Mayor Hancock to try these dishes the next time he visits our great city,” Gloria said.
Gloria is still waiting for Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley to make good on his wager of Gold Star chili, Graeter's ice cream and Montgomery Inn barbecue, following the Bengals loss to the Chargers this past Sunday.
