Annual Cupid’s Cleanup scheduled for Feb. 15

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I Love A Clean San Diego (ILACSD) is giving residents the chance to show their adoration for the local environment at its annual Cupid’s Cleanup event and mixer.

The neighborhood cleanup event is on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It begins with a volunteer meet-up at Thorn Street Brewery (3176 Thorn St., San Diego – North Park) before heading out to the cleanup.

Volunteers will join ILACSD for a neighborhood and canyon cleanup in North Park and South Park, followed by a Valentine’s Day-themed mixer hosted by Thorn Street Brewery. Volunteers will receive complimentary beer tasters as a thank you for their hard work and to celebrate their love for a cleaner community.

“Events like Cupid’s Cleanup are vital to the health of the local environment because they keep trash off local beaches, out of local waterways and the ocean,” said Pauline Martinson, executive director, ILACSD. “By volunteering at Cupid’s Cleanup, participants can help to create a cleaner and safer environment for animals and people alike to swim, surf and play in San Diego’s beautiful coastal waters.”

Each volunteer must sign a waiver to participate and any minors require an additional parent signature. Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes and are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottle. ILACSD will provide all necessary supplies such as water, snacks and community service verification forms. To sign up as a volunteer, contact Lexi Ambrogi at lambrogi@cleansd.org or 619-704-2778.
