Dave McCaslin, CEO of the San Diego Center for Children for the past six years, has announced his retirement. March 31 will be his last day.
The local nonprofit provides services for children and teens facing behavioral, emotional, social and educational challenges most commonly caused by factors out of their control.
“It has truly been a labor of love as I have watched the Center grow ... to become a special place that I am truly proud to have been part of,” McCaslin said. “Although I will miss the kids, the staff and the hundreds of friends I have made, I have decided to move on to my next life adventure.”
McCaslin began volunteering on the Board of Trustees for the center in 2007, and was promoted to interim CEO in 2008 and subsequently to permanent CEO a couple of months later. McCaslin has more than 30 years of experience with small entrepreneurial companies and large multinational organizations. He has also served on the board for First Medical Inc., HTI Bio Services, HTI Bio Products, Sierra Biomedical and Concerro.
“We will miss the strategic leadership, guidance, and passion Dave provided to the Center for the past six years,” said Keith Wilson, chairperson for the Board of Trustees at the San Diego Center for Children. “Although we are sad to see him leave, we are excited for him to take the time for himself to enjoy life and his family.”
A search for another CEO is ongoing.
