Officer accused of sexual misconduct identified

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The San Diego police union has identified an officer who is under investigation for allegedly touching and exposing himself to a woman he had arrested.

U-T San Diego reported Thursday (http://bit.ly/NhQplZ ) that the Police Officers Association named the officer as Donald Moncrief, but the union did not comment on the probe.

Chief Bill Lansdowne said at a news conference Wednesday that the department would not name the officer because the investigation was in its preliminary stages and he has not been charged.

A woman told officials that an officer had inappropriately touched her and exposed himself a year ago as she was being transported to the women's jail in Santee.

The woman came forward after reading media reports about the recent investigation of Officer Christopher Hays, who is also accused of sexual misconduct. Hays has resigned.
