The boards of the San Diego Deputy District Attorneys Association and its political action committee, San Diegans Against Crime, have unanimously voted to endorse Bonnie Dumanis for District Attorney.
Robert Hickey, president of the association, said all the members had been polled and a majority supported Dumanis over her challenger, former Los Angeles prosecutor Robert Brewer. Dumanis served as a deputy district attorney for 12 years before becoming a judge in 1990. She returned to the agency in 2002 after being elected District Attorney.
The Deputy District Attorneys Association endorsed Dumanis in the 2002 campaign against incumbent Paul Pfingst and again in 2006 and 2010, when she ran unopposed for reelection.
Other organizations supporting Dumanis include the San Diego County District Attorney Investigators Association, San Diego Community College Police Officers Association, San Diego Black Police Officers Association, National Non-Partisan Latino Peace Officers Association, and the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers, although Brewer has won the endorsement of most local police associations.
