SIERRA MADRE, Calif. (AP) -- Three hikers missing overnight in the Angeles National Forest above Sierra Madre have been found.
Police Sgt. Ruben Enriquez tells City News Service that searchers made contact with the hikers, all men in their 20s, shortly before 4 a.m. Thursday.
One of the men called 911 Wednesday night saying the trio had hiked from the Chantry Flats trailhead up to the Mount Wilson Observatory and got lost coming back down.
The caller said he had separated from the other two hikers to find a better cell signal. He indicated the three were not carrying extra food, water, or clothing.
Their hike began before noon Wednesday.
The search party included deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
