Model railroad group's museum finds new Oceanside home

A home for the North County Model Railroad Society's model train museum has been arranged through a partnership with the city of Oceanside.

The NCMRS has teamed up with the Oceanside Parks and Recreation Division to locate the group's museum at Heritage Park Museum, 220 Peyri Road in Oceanside. The group is planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony for 12 p.m. on April 19.

Formed in 1990, the North County Model Railroad Society had previously operated out of a building on Oceanside Boulevard. The group had to find a new home when a market moved into the building.

A “Trains for Kids” model will be set up during construction to allow children to view and operate the trains, according to a release from the city of Oceanside.
