California City Council Won’t Extend Drilling Moratorium

April 30 (Bloomberg) -- A ban on new oil and natural gas drilling enacted in March by a Los Angeles-area city will expire this week after the Carson City Council voted not to continue the moratorium.

The 45-day ban will expire May 2, council member Albert Robles said in a text message today. Robles initiated the moratorium on concerns about a 200-well drilling plan in the city proposed by Occidental Petroleum Corp. Carson was the third local government in the state since September to seek restrictions on drilling.
