Kearny Mesa businessman Vincent Mudd was named to the two-year chairmanship of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp. at its annual dinner on Tuesday, pledging to work on recruiting more talent to come to move to the area.
Citing a number of recent studies that show that San Diego at the top of the list for such things as its emphasis on innovation and its attractiveness to younger workers, Mudd said that the agency should concentrate more on bringing a strong pool of innovative workers to the region rather than simply targeting companies.
Mudd -- who has previously chaired the San Diego Chamber of Commerce -- also said he wanted to work to bring the Olympics to San Diego in 2024. He chairs the local Olympic Exploratory Committee and is also president of the San Diego Bowl Game Association.
