Excellence in our people

Related Special Reports

At Swinerton Builders, our core strength has always been our people. Because we are a 100 percent employee-owned company, our people have a vested interest in the success of each project. We also self-perform work whenever possible, giving our teams greater control over the quality and pace of work. Having our own manpower on highly skilled trades like drywall, concrete and carpentry helps us ensure excellence, as well as pass along scheduling and cost benefits to our clients.

From new project engineers just out of school to seasoned superintendents, people come to Swinerton because they have a passion for building. They stay because they find an environment where bold ideas become reality, where teams collaborate to build lean, green structures and facilities where San Diegans can live, work and play for generations to come. Many of our leaders here in San Diego have grown with the company since their early careers. We’re excited to announce the recent promotion of three of our key team members, who have each added immeasurably to our success in the region.

Steve Flint was recently promoted from project executive to operations manager and is now responsible for all aspects of the San Diego division’s project management and field operations. In 2014, he hopes to “further our vision to be our clients’ preferred builder and trusted partner.”

Former Senior Superintendent Roger Kazemier is now our field operations manager. He now oversees all of the San Diego division’s project job sites and is responsible for day-to-day construction operations. “I enjoy teaching the younger, up-and-coming members of our team how to build projects successfully,” Kazemier said.

Randy Vandewater, formerly preconstruction manager, is now responsible for the overall planning and management of the San Diego division’s estimating department as chief estimator. “One of my goals is to effectively integrate emerging technologies, such as BIM, with our already exceptional foundation of preconstruction services,” he explains.

Congratulations to Randy, Steve and Roger as they help Swinerton build the future of San Diego.
