Southwestern seeks new Prop. R oversight committee representative

Southwestern College is seeking a new business representative for its Proposition R Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee to replace the outgoing two-year representative on July 11.

Those interested in serving on the committee must be active in a business organization representing local businesses.

Committee members are responsible for informing the public and the Southwestern College’s Governing Board about the expenditure of bond proceeds, reviewing expenditures to ensure they are in alignment with voter-approved projects and providing an annual report summarizing the committee’s proceedings and activities.

The Bond Oversight Committee meets quarterly, with occasional interim meetings to discuss certain topics or make site visits.

Interested individuals are asked to fill out the committee’s application. Applications are due Thursday, June 12, and should be sent to the attention of Janell Ruiz in the office of the Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs, Southwestern College, 900 Otay Lakes Road, Chula Vista, CA 91910.

Applicants can also email the application to jruiz@swccd.edu. The application can be found at swccd.edu/CBOCapplication.

All applications will be reviewed by college staff for a recommendation to Southwestern College Superintendent and President Dr. Melinda Nish. Final approval will be made by the Southwestern College Governing Board.
