MARIPOSA, Calif. (AP) -- Crews have made more progress against a wildfire in Central California that has destroyed two homes.
State fire officials reported on Thursday that the fire east of Lake McClure in Mariposa County was 60 percent contained. The fire has burned a little less than a square mile.
The fire was initially thought to have burned a larger area, but officials say better mapping led to the revised figure.
Some 50 residents were urged to leave for their own safety after the fire broke out on Monday. They were allowed back into their homes on Wednesday.
