Cox Home Security's remote access offers control while at work

With Cox Communications' home security and automation services, customers can use the latest technology to keep their families and their homes safe -- and check on the house and family while at work.

Cox Home Security enables customers to access features not found in most traditional alarm systems such as using their smart phone or laptop to monitor their home security cameras while away at the office, running errands or on vacation. They can also receive a text message when there is an occurrence at the home.

But intruders aren't the only threat to your family's safety.

"Whether it's keeping your home safe from intruders, making sure your children got home safely from school, or checking on an elderly parent while at work, Cox Home Security helps families feel safer and more secure," said Ryland Madison, Director of Marketing for Cox's California operations.

Cox Home Security provides advanced features with time-saving and cost-saving options to help customers manage their family's safety. Cox Home Security's 24/7 secure monitoring systems feature:

• Intrusion and home safety monitoring (includes fire, gas and flood);

• Remote access so the system can be controlled away from home via a secure Internet site or smart phone app;

• Email/Text alerts to notify customers of occurrences at the home;

• Safety sensors to detect hazardous conditions such as carbon monoxide and smoke;

• Secure video monitoring available via smart phone or a web browser;

• Turn lights and thermostats on and off using a smart phone or laptop.

Madison noted that each Cox Home Security system is tailored to fit a customer's needs.

"One home may require a video camera near their pool for safety reasons. Another family may want text message alerts sent when their children arrive home from school. No two installations are exactly alike," Madison said. "And, only the customer can view what is on the video cameras, which are controlled completely by the customer."

And, with 51 percent of reported home fires occurring in homes without a working smoke alarm, Cox Home Security's safety sensors for smoke and carbon monoxide provide extra protection for families.

The Cox Home Security system comes with up to $350 in free equipment with a $49 installation and three-year contract. The professionally monitored Cox Home Security service plans start at $29.99 a month.

Like the company's other products -- digital cable, high speed Internet, and digital telephone service -- Cox Home Security can be bundled onto one bill.
