SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- A 45-year-old man who authorities say went by the online nickname “Dr-Death” has been charged with illegally manufactured parts for assault rifles.
Daniel Crowninshield of Sacramento was arrested Friday but freed on bond.
He was indicted last week on charges of unlawfully manufacturing and dealing in firearms, possessing a firearm after being convicted of domestic violence, and possessing machine guns and unregistered firearms.
Prosecutors say he operated an unlicensed firearms manufacturing business in North Sacramento.
They say he made and sold parts for assault rifles and other firearms without conducting background checks, enforcing waiting periods, or completing required paperwork.
Crowninshield's attorney, Danny Brace, said his client merely helped customers make their own parts and doesn't believe he did anything illegal.
