FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating whether four vegetation fires set along roads in Fresno in the span of an evening were intentionally set.
The Fresno Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1lNAzP9) two blazes began within a 20-minute span Monday evening along Highways 180 and 99 in the downtown area.
A third fire started near California and Cedar avenues around the same time.
And later in the evening, a fourth vegetation fire was reported at Olive Avenue and Highway 41.
Battalion Chief Todd Tuggle says police were questioning two possible suspects in connection with the fires.
Officials say Monday's fires are similar to another set of blazes on Sunday afternoon.
Since May, Fresno has been hit by more than 20 arson fires. Fresno fire Chief Kerri Donis said earlier this month that the city is almost certainly being targeted by several serial arsonists.
