Sixth annual Table for Tots fundraiser on Aug. 14

San Diego architecture and design firms will create one-of-a-kind furniture pieces for auction at its Table for Tots fundraiser on Aug. 14.

The theme for this year’s fundraiser is ”Heroes for Tots.” The event will feature 21 children’s table and chair sets that will be auctioned off to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. All money collected from the fundraiser will help provide a range of services, including meals, lodging and emotional support, to families with critically ill or injured children being treated at San Diego-area hospitals.

San Diego design and architecture firms have transformed standard table and chairs into musical instruments, a carousel, an art studio, an airplane, cars and more. Table entries will be judged during the event and will then be auctioned off to event attendees.

“The Tables for Tots fundraiser always brings the most creative professionals together for the common goal of raising money to house and support families with a hospitalized child,” said Marilyn Mattson, director of business development at G/M Business Interiors. “We are always amazed to see how the local design community brings these creative concepts to life and we can’t wait to find out what they have up their sleeves for this year’s fundraiser.”

Judges will rate entries on playability, creativity, imagination and structural integrity. Awards will be presented to winning designers following the auction.

The event will be presented in partnership by G/M Business Interiors and will take place on Thursday, Aug. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Ronald McDonald House at 2929 Children’s Way, San Diego.

Company participants in the table design include Augustine Design Group/Spooner’s Woodworking, AVRP Studios, Carrier Johnson + Culture, Design Institute of San Diego, DGA Planning, Entente Design, Facility Solutions, Hope Amundson/Gensler/DPR, Hurkes Harris Design Associates, ID Studios Inc., Jackson Design and Remodeling, JCJ Architecture/Swinerton Builders/LPA Inc./Mascari Warner Architects/Wiseman + Rohy Structural Engineers, RBN Design, Roesling Nakamura Terada Architects, Smith Consulting Architects, Solomon Interior Design Inc., Taylor/BNB/KPFF, The Art Institute of San Diego, Ware Malcomb Architects.
