Debris flows surround Southern California town

OAK GLEN, Calif. (AP) -- Southern California thunderstorms have brought flooding and thick debris flows that blocked access to a foothill town of 1,500.

CalFire spokeswoman Elizabeth Brown says on Sunday that the residents of Oak Glen, a foothill community in the San Bernardino County, are unable to get out because of the debris flow.

Crews were using bulldozers to clear the roads.

Flash flood warnings were issued for several counties as monsoonal moisture brought brief but fierce storms to mountain, desert and inland areas.

The National Weather Service said the storms dumped as much as 3 { inches of rain to the mountain area above Oak Glen.

Brown said there were several reports of residential flooding in the town.
