SAN FERNANDO, Calif. (AP) -- Officials say an unidentified male suspect is dead and two other people are injured following an officer-involved shooting in San Fernando.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday in the small town in the northeast corner of the San Fernando Valley.
Officials say two additional unidentified people suffered minor injuries. They were taken to a local hospital.
Further details on their identities or the nature of their injuries were not immediately available.
The shooting, which occurred about 3:30 p.m., caused the brief lockdown of a nearby elementary school.
LA County homicide detectives are assisting San Fernando police officers with the investigation.
