A day after a business-backed coalition began distributing petitions to overturn San Diego's recently adopted minimum wage hike, City Council President Pro Tem Sherri Lightner will rev up the "Don't Sign It" campaign -- urging voters not to sign the petition -- with a press conference at La Jolla Village Square at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
Lightner and a number of working women will speak in favor of the wage hike as a way of closing the wage gap throughout the region.
Supporters say the petition drive will delay implementation of the wage hike by at least 18 months.
