PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) -- Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say a deputy involved in a rollover accident on the 14 Freeway near Palmdale was treated for minor injuries.
Lt. Rick Martinez tells City News Service that the female deputy remains hospitalized early Tuesday for observation.
The crash happened early Monday as the deputy was returning to the Palmdale station after taking an inmate to a regional detention facility.
Sgt. David Sauer said the deputy, whose name was not released, was trapped in the patrol car and was taken to a hospital after she was freed.
The California Highway Patrol temporarily shut down the freeway at the Santiago Road off-ramp during the rescue.
The cause of the rollover accident remains under investigation.
No other injuries were reported.
