Greatbatch Inc. (NYSE: GB) has opened its second manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico.
The $35 million facility will produce a range of medical devices for incorporating into life-enhancing therapies worldwide. Once fully operational, this facility will create 450 jobs, according to Greatbatch.
“Over the past 11 years, Greatbatch has made significant capital investments in capacity, technology and capabilities across our global footprint to provide customers with quality products to improve the lives of patients around the world,” said Thomas J, Hook, president and CEO of Greatbatch.
Greatbatch first began production in Mexico in 2005 with approximately 100 associates operating in 5,000 square feet of space. Greatbatch now has almost 350,000 square feet of space across the two facilities in Tijuana and employs more than 1,000 associates.
