With an open seat on the county Board of Supervisors for the first time in years, and fundraising totals between the two candidates exceeding $830,000, the stakes are high in the District 3 race between Steve Danon, most recently the chief of staff to North County Congressman Brian Bilbray, and Solana Beach Deputy Mayor Dave Roberts.

Seacoast Commerce Bank (OTCQB: SCCB) announced it was ranked the 14th largest provider of loans to small businesses in the United States, as reported by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), for the SBA's fiscal year ended Sept. 30. This is up from the 18th largest in 2011 and the 23rd largest in 2010.


Anticipated weather conditions associated with the massive storm on the East Coast have led San Diego-based Accelrys Inc. to push back the announcement of its third quarter results to Oct. 31.

The Cushman & Wakefield of San Diego Urban Property Group reported that Fogo de Chao, an upscale Brazilian Churrascaria-style steakhouse, will open its first location in San Diego. The restaurant will be located in the Gaslamp district at 668 Sixth Ave. (92101). Fogo de Chao signed a 10-year, $4,946,820 lease for 11,372 square feet in a portion of the building that housed former Borders Books & Music.
